The summer 2020 has started with different limitations, but I think this corona time has taught us a lot of ourselves. We have had a lot of time to think who we really are, what we really appreciate and more important what we want to do in the future. We have had plenty of time to family, friends and ourselves.
On one evening after three long calls to my three friends, I notice some basic things. Nowadays it is so easy to keep in touch with friends, no matter how big the distance is between them and me. One lives on another European country, another on Northern Finland and third at my neighbouring city.
The most important thing is to live the real life with your loved-ones and to hear that they all are doing fine. A short call or a message may save the day. That small thing does not depend on time or place. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and other social media apps allow us to share a part of our life with other people. Those channels have become a big part of almost everyone’s life, especially in these times.
We may have took more contact also to those who we have not been in contact for a long time. I think that has been really good and more than that, I hope, we do not forget these people again after this period is over. You cannot have too many friends who care about you and that feeling for both needs work to stay alive.
During this online spring, I have gained new friends from other cities, from other countries and from other cultures. Just being active, taking advantage of digitalization, looking for new opportunities to live happy life and surviving through prevailing time.
JCI has opened the door to getting to know new friends, developing my own skills and testing new things. This has helped me a lot through this spring. Everything has its dark side but if you look more closely, you will see all the nice shades. Those shades may change your life to better if you take the change and jump into it. Let us keep ourselves safe, keep loved-ones close (with safe “corona” distances) and our minds clear.
